We are very excited to host our very first Beekeeping Masterclass taking place at the Agri-Gardens and Eco-Hives in the Cradle of Humankind on 31st July 2022.
The Masterclass is from 11 am-4pm and will cover:
1. Basic beekeeping Theory
2. Bee interaction session
Beekeeper enthusiasts, environmentalists, bee lovers, beginner beekeepers and anyone interested in or fascinated by bees are welcome to join this session.
Our Facilitator:
Mokgadi Mabela , a passionate and dedicated South African Female Bee Farmer specialising in organic, local, ethical honey production.
Owned by Mokgadi, The name “Native Nosi” comprises two words taken from the English & Basotho languages - a nod to her heritage.
NATIVE – Widely understood (formally & informally) as a term to refer to natural, indigenous, unaltered, or unadorned, Synonyms include: domestic, home-grown, home made, home, local, endemic, inborn, inherent, intuitive, & instinctive. e.g. “honey, eggs & other native produce”
NOSI – A term from the Basotho people of South Africa meaning “Honey Bee”. Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps & ants, known for their role in pollination & producing honey & beeswax
Tickets will be available on Howler. Sessions have limited space and fill up quick so secure your spot to prevent disappointment.
A harvest-style lunch is included. Please make sure to wear or bring along
1. Jeans
2. Long sleeve top
3. Boots or takkies (NO OPEN SHOES)
4. Socks that cover your ankles and lower leg
We will provide the full beekeeping kit. If you have a bee allergy please declare it in the notes or when you arrive for the session in order to allow us to take the necessary precautions.
Please also bring your allergy medication.

1pm - 2pm Walk to the hives, with demonstration
2pm - 3:30pm Lunch, with honey tasting
