The Annual Day at the Duck Race is a wonderful day out in th e country\, with lots of fun for people of all ages\, plenty of food and r efreshments and of course\, the best in local entertainment. The 3rd event takes place at Essere Lodge in the historic town of Tulbagh\, entrance fe es cost R250\, which includes the duck adoption. Additional ducks cost R50 to race down the “Boontjies” river to increase the chances o f winning. The owner of the winning duck will receive R5000 in prize money . In addition to the public race\, there is also a Corporate Race at R1000 per duck\, with a cash prize of R10 000 to the winning corporate. To date the event has raised over Twenty thousand Rand for CHAIN Boland\, a non-p rofit Animal rescue organisation that oversees 5 towns in the Witzenberg a rea.
