Details
This is Burra500. A self-supported bike packing race taking place in the beautiful KZN Midlands. From June 17th to June 20th, participants will tackle a grueling 515km course with an elevation gain of 10000m, starting and finishing at the in a shopping mall parking lot in Pietermaritzburg.
This winter event is not for the faint-hearted, as riders will be required to carry all their own gear, food, and supplies for the duration of the race. With no support stations along the way, participants must be prepared for all weather conditions and ready to push their limits.
You get a route .gpx file and you ride it your way. Do it over the full 60 hour cut-off and stop where you like, or test your mettle and ride it non-stop. There is no prize money or assistance on route.

You will be required to have a working and linked tracking device, which is able to issue an SOS (for your own rescue) in case of emergency. Medial support is not provided
This is a self-supported event, no way ways are the organises liable for another thay may happen to you during the event. And no support will be provided in the case where you run into issue

If this event is cancelled, rescheduled or curtailed, Event Protect will provide a simple and fast refund process. You can apply directly to Event Protect for a refund. Provided the event has been accepted and is covered by the Programme, which is underwritten by "A" rated insurers, your application will be managed through Event Protect. Please note communicable diseases such as the COVID-19 Virus is not covered by this Policy.
