The market gives a spotlight to the sub cultures in fashion, music food and podcasting.
FASHION - Thrifting: thrifting is an underrated side of the fashion world as many people the world over chose to thrift not to be cheap but to approach life on earth in a more sustainable manner. The manufacturing of new textiles and fabrics has such a detrimental effect on mother earth and thrifting is the tree huggers response! Thrifting shopping is the art of sustainable fashion coupled with luck and timing. You never know what you’re get when you go to a thrift market! There will be 10 thrift stores and the market will run from 10:00 to 14:00.
MUSIC - Our aux DJ’s will hit you with a roundhouse kick of unshazambables that will have you asking fellow attendees “do you know the name of this song?” We will also have live acts performing everything from jazz to alt-pop to lo-fi to avant-garde rap from 14:00 - 16:20.
FOOD - CBD Tea, Coffee, mouthwatering gourmet pizza and craft gin will available all day for your taste tantalising pleasure all day.
PODCASTING - The highlight of the six part market series will be a podcast workshop where we (The Kulcha) will sit down and unpack podcast culture as experienced by a few of some of the better known podcasters in the country. If you are there, you will get a chance to be a part of our life studio audience! The podcast workshop series will serve the purpose of spreading the word about South African podcasts and podcasters, sharing their stories and creating a network of young creatives seeking to get into podcasting. The live recording will begin at 17:00 and end at 18:30 before our future beats DJ takes us smoothly back into the mainstream of a new week!
The market will be fun and open to families with children until 16:20 as there will be an area dedicated to painting with children with a responsible caretaker, however, please note that the market/venue is 420 friendly in most areas.
