African Sixes Lacrosse Championships 2026
Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th December
Ridgeway Oval, St Stithians College, Johannesburg
The 2026 African Sixes Lacrosse Championships bring together men's and women's teams from South Africa, Kenya and Uganda for four days of continental competition. Organised by the African Association of Lacrosse with the South Africa Lacrosse Association, and supported by World Lacrosse, the championships are hosted at St Stithians College.
Sixes is lacrosse at its fastest: six players a side, a smaller field and a shorter game, with the action rarely stopping. The format is quick to follow, which makes it a good first lacrosse match for newcomers.
The week opens with a ceremony on Wednesday 2nd December. Pool play runs on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th, and the championships finish on Saturday 5th with the women's and men's gold medal matches and a closing ceremony.
Beyond the competition, the championships are a chance to grow the game in Africa. Alongside the matches, there are plans for St Stithians pupils to learn and train with the national teams, so the week leaves something behind for local players and schools.
Whether you play, coach, teach or simply love a good sporting evenr, this is a week to see African lacrosse at its best.
